Running to Win !

By monica • October 2nd, 2009

we’ve all heard people say it doesn’t matter whether you win or lose - it’s how you play the game.  that’s definitely true but at the same time, if given the choice to win or lose - winning is definitely the way to go.

when i was a little girl my parents used to let me win.  whether it was the game “operation” - monopoly, or scrabble, they let me win.  i loved that !  it’s fun to win.   i can still remember the feeling of having more points than everybody in scrabble.  my parents used to say “monica that space is actually a triple word score”,  of course, it wasn’t really a triple word score space but they said that and i took the points and was happy about it.

God makes it clear that He’s appointed us to be “more than conquerors”, and victorious in all things.  His word says that we were created in advance to do good things and that through Christ we can do all things.  in other words God has created us to be winners.

we are told this life is a fight of faith.  but we are not just fighting blindly or without help.  God Himself is our helper and refuge.  God’s spirit dwells in us and gives us the strength for every battle and He’s appointed us to be victorious in all things.

when i was a little girl my parents had to “fix my wins”.  they had to say “monica that’s a triple word score” (and it wasn’t) or they’d let roll the dice more than once in monopoly to ensure my win.  with God it’s not like that.  He sent His son Jesus before us to make a way even where there seems to be no way.

at times we can all get discouraged.  sometimes we want to quit.  but He’s empowered us to run this race of life and to win.  just recently i taught “Running to Win” at our WHTN CTN studios.  if you look under the free resource guide of this site you’ll find the running to win encouragement guide. please enjoy the guide as my gift to you.  as you meditate on His Word you’ll grow in faith.

all winners have to train.  our training is in His Word.  take a look at the encouragement guide, it’s filled with scripture and practical tools to help you live life as a winner.

after all winning is so much better than the alternative.

Awesome teaching! Some of my favorite parallels are those about the athletes training and running the race. Besides, a blue ribbon looks so much better on me anyway! = )
